Nice Day out , Nostalgic for older people, a taste of the past for us younger ones.
Came for a New Years Special. Opening on and off since the closing of the Underground Ongar branch in the 90s, the current owners have got it right. Although not fully connected to Epping there is a bus service to North Wield where you can connect to a Ongar service. Facilities are great and it is good for families and enthusiasts alike! On the day we visited two steam engines were running including a Vintage met line train!
We took our little one on the Santa Special and we were very impressed with everything. The staff are helpful and very friendly, everything ran on time and the ambience was lovely with people playing brass Christmassy music, it all felt very festive! We were particularly impressed by the Santa, who was very authentic - not a fake beard in sight! Topped off with complimentary mulled wine and a mince pie it was a lovely outing - we'll definitely be back next year!
An absolutely brilliant day last Sunday on the Santa Special. Our two grandchildren had a wonderful time as did the adults. Such fun and so much care and attention to detail by all concerned. Would recommend it to anyone with children. Well done and we will be back i'm sure.
Took our soon to be 4 year old on this yesterday and he loved it! He loves trains anyway so was perfect...coming here is like taking a step back in time. It was also the classic car rally at North Weald which our son enjoyed...we took the bus back and apart from a little confusion where the driver went past Ongar station was not able to ruin a really enjoyable day out.
